Ellen Schlafer, President

When brand strategist Ellen Schlafer asks, “What makes your company different?’ be prepared because the standard “We provide great service” response is rarely accepted. As a seasoned marketing strategist, Ellen is as passionate about learning how a business operates and what sets it apart from the competition as she is about getting results. “Branding is about the the image you create, the promise that you make and the people who deliver it. It’s emotional.. and every piece of the puzzle is critical. If you don’t deliver as expected, your marketing dollars are wasted.”

Serving as a key executive in creating systems, directing performance, growth, and expanding business lines in regional and super-regional banks, Ellen has more than two decades of experience at the senior and executive levels in line positions and as Chief Marketing Officer. In 2004, Ellen formed a full-service marketing company, Electrum Marketing and in 2010 formed a customer experience research and measurement company, CIMA Insight, that provides state-of-the-art customer experience measurement and management to businesses. In 2015, Ellen merged the companies and Electrum Branding, a full service branding, marketing and customer experience measurement company was born.

Ellen has served on the Board of Directors, the executive committee and chairs the Branding and PR committee for MSPA, a national association that is dedicated to supporting businesses in the management and measurement of the customer experience.

A graduate and post-graduate of the University of Louisville, Ellen has been a keynote speaker at national sales conferences, the Marketing Advisor to Florida Atlantic University Commercial Music Program, Hoot Recordings and has served on numerous Boards including the Executive Board of the Ft. Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce and the March of Dimes.

Roger Hicks, Director of Client Services

Roger began his advertising career more than 30 years ago when the industry could be summed up in three words: Print, TV and Radio. After five years in the business, during which time he earned two Addy Awards for his copy writing and radio campaigns, Roger began his next career in the non-profit sector.

After 15 years, he returned to his roots only to find that the world of advertising was rapidly evolving. Traditional marketing was dwindling while inbound marketing such as blogging, search engine marketing, search engine optimization, and social media were building momentum.

To effectively keep Electrum’s clients’ brands top of mind, Roger went back to school and completed his Masters Certificate in Integrated Online Marketing, making him our expert in online strategies, search engine optimization, and search engine marketing. Recently, as the demand for social media management and monitoring has soared, so did his curiosity so he became a certified social media professional.

Roger is involved in every stage of every client project. When he’s not managing the advertising agency’s busy production schedule, negotiating media contracts, writing copy, creating shareable online client content, or improving search engine rankings, he’s forging relationships with clients. He’s quick with a joke but he’s faster with answers. Electrum clients know he’s the “go to” guy. His humorous, easy-going style is enjoyed by clients but what they truly appreciate is his determination to deliver results – on time and under budget.

Tom is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma, surrounded by several large flat screen monitors.  On one hand, he is an amazingly creative graphic designer putting out one compelling design after another. Yet on the other hand, he’s a mind-numbingly tech-savvy web designer. But when he puts his hands together he is able to integrate up-to-date technology with compelling design providing clients with effective brand building solutions.

As a seasoned web designer, Tom has successfully worked with a wide variety of content management software (CMS) applications including both open source and commercial applications. He has extensive experience with Sitefinity, Joomla and WordPress as well as using and customizing a wide range of  e-commerce, membership management, blog and intranet software applications.
