With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, people are once again indulging in the most ridiculous and cliché activities including but not limited to:

  • Spending upwards of $5 for a greeting card with a sappy message you would never utter. If you did speak that way, the card wouldn’t be necessary.
  • Jockeying for a table at a romantic restaurant with all the other couples who only venture out on Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve, and birthdays – in other words – amateurs.
  • Debating on whether to buy red roses, a heart-shaped box of chocolates, and/or an adorable teddy bear with eyes begging for a hug despite your partner saying last year’s tribute of said items was unnecessary – do you dare show up empty handed?

So with all this focus on romance, it’s easy to overlook your business. Fortunately, Electrum Branding has prepared a list of ideas for you to show your brand some love this Valentine’s Day….and every day after.

Be Sincere

Don’t be like a sappy store-bought Valentine’s Day card. Ensure your brand messaging conveys your genuine interest in your customers’ situations, your passion for providing them with a solution, and your unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in their lives.  Sincerity shines every time.

Get Engaged

Social media is a double-edged sword.  Although it provides an effective platform to engage, inform, and relate to your customers – a neglected social media profile suggests that you have nothing to share, little to discuss, and zero interest in engaging with your followers.

Get Fresh

When’s the last time your website was refreshed? If you don’t remember, it’s been too long.  FYI: the average lifespan of a website is 2 years and 7 months; therefore, your website should never be older than your socks and underwear.

Show You Care

Like the spouse who only buys flowers once a year, a business that only gets feedback from one raving fan is missing many opportunities for successful relationships.  Customer experience surveys can unlock a wealth of information in addition to showing customers you care about what’s important to them.  And regular reminders that you genuinely care go a lot further than a bouquet any day.

Spice Things Up

Are things getting stale?  Does your team need a boost?  Implement an internal employee promotion to motivate sales, spark engagement and boost morale.

Share the Love

By becoming brand advocates and liking and sharing your social media posts, your employees can dramatically increase your brand visibility. Plus, data shows that on average, employees have 10 times the reach of their employer’s LinkedIn company page with their posts generating better engagement.

Work It Out

If someone said something negative about your spouse, you’d likely confront that person.  So why would you let online reviews, good or bad, go unaddressed?  Responding constructively to negative reviews shows that you are interested in their experience and open to resolving the issue.  And requesting an online review at the end of a positive customer experience can increase your positive online reviews and influence future purchase decisions.
